The International University of America (IUA), originally a Californian university established in 1980, founded its campus in London in February 1995. Its more recent global outlook reflects a desire to broaden its reach further, offering an Anglo-American style of education.

IUA is an independent, coeducational, business and liberal arts international institution of higher learning. As a foreign university in London, IUA is independently administered in accordance with the Education Reform Act 1988 by Management Education Resources Centre (MERC), incorporated as a college of higher education in England and Wales in July 1995.

The university provides an adequate and satisfactory international standard of education and confers diplomas and degrees mainly in the business area. The university is a member of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE). It is also an approved and accredited centre for the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (UK). IUA, until recently, was a UK registered education provider under the auspices and authority of the DfES (also known as the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) and conformed to the evolving rules, regulations and policies of the Home Office in the UK.

1. Acceptance of Terms

Enrolling on any course, programme or certificate offered by the International University of America (hereafter referred to as 'IUA') constitutes a binding agreement by the student to adhere to these Terms and Conditions, the relevant programme requirements, and all published institutional policies (including the Academic Regulations and the Student Code of Conduct).

2. Admissions and Enrolment

2.1 Accuracy of Information

All information provided by the applicant during the admission process is accepted in good faith. Submission of false or misleading information regarding qualifications, personal details or age, or failure to produce required original documentary evidence, may result in the immediate withdrawal of the offer of admission or expulsion from the programme without refund.

2.2 English Proficiency

Students accepted without a prior interview or formal English language test may be required to undergo an English proficiency assessment upon arrival. IUA reserves the right to require participation in remedial language support courses until the necessary standard for academic success is met.

2.3 Deferral

A request to defer the starting date of a programme must be submitted to the Registrar in writing at least two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled start date. Applications received after this period will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the Academic Board.

3. Tuition Fees and Payment

3.1 Payment Obligation

Enrolment obligates the student to pay the full tuition fees for the enrolled course or programme. Fees are payable in full before the commencement of studies, as specified in the student's official offer of acceptance.

3.2 Instalments

Payment by instalments may be permitted solely at the written discretion of the Registrar, provided a formal instalment plan agreement is signed by the student.

3.3 Financial Non-Compliance

A place on a programme or access to learning resources is not guaranteed, and enrolment may be temporarily suspended or cancelled, if the appropriate fees have not been paid by the stated due date.

4. Fee Refund Policy (Visa Refusal)

Tuition fees are non-refundable, except in the sole instance where a student is refused an entry visa to the United Kingdom, provided all of the following conditions are met:

• Written Notification: IUA must be informed in writing of the student's inability to start the programme due to visa refusal at least two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled programme start date.
• Entry Status: The student has not entered the UK at the time of the refusal.
• Documentary Proof: The student provides IUA with official, original documentary evidence (such as a refusal letter) issued by the relevant British High Commission or Embassy confirming the visa refusal.
• Document Return: Digital copies of the Certificate of Enrolment (if applicable) and receipts for fees paid are returned to IUA.

Note: Administrative and application fees are non-refundable. A processing charge may be deducted from the refunded tuition fee.

5. Academic Conduct and Attendance

5.1 Attendance and Punctuality

Students are required to attend all scheduled classes, lectures and tutorials regularly and punctually. IUA reserves the right to impose disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion, for non-attendance or poor attendance records.

5.2 Withdrawal and Changes

A student may not drop a course or subject, or change programmes, without formal written permission from the Registrar.

5.3 Ill Health

Where a student is absent due to ill health, a doctor's certificate may be required to cover the entire period of absence.

5.4 Misconduct

Students expelled from IUA for academic misconduct (e.g. cheating or plagiarism) or behavioural misconduct (e.g. aggression, violence or harassment) will not be entitled to any refund of tuition fees.

6. International Students and Immigration

Mandatory Disclosure: IUA is a UK private higher education institution and does not currently hold a Student Sponsor Licence under the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Student Route.

6.1 Student Responsibility

It is the sole and absolute responsibility of the international student to ensure they have the correct immigration status and visa (such as a visitor visa, dependant visa or other legal status) to study in the UK for the duration of their enrolled programme.

6.2 IUA Assistance

IUA cannot provide formal immigration advice, issue Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) numbers, or directly support applications for the UK Student Route visa or its extensions.

6.3 Consequences of Expulsion or Failure

If a student is required to leave the UK due to non-compliance with UK immigration law, non-attendance or breach of IUA's policies, no tuition fees will be refunded.

7. General Provisions

7.1 Programme Changes

IUA reserves the right to make appropriate changes to programmes, course content and delivery methods (for example, to amalgamate classes, modify the number of lecture hours, or discontinue a programme) if insufficient demand, resource constraints or other operational needs arise. IUA will provide reasonable advance notice to affected students and will endeavour to offer comparable alternative study arrangements.

7.2 Change of Address

Students must notify the Registrar of any change to their local or permanent address immediately.

7.3 Institutional Communications

Important notices for students are displayed on the IUA main notice board and/or communicated via official IUA email. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all such notices are read and acted upon.

7.4 Liability

IUA will not be held liable for the loss of property or money on IUA premises unless such loss is proven to be directly caused by IUA's negligence. Students must not use IUA's premises as a postal address for receiving personal mail under any circumstances.

7.5 Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
